Energetics of Ionised Environments Research Laboratory
Cosmétosciences research topic:
Biological activity and safety
The approaches have been built on multidisciplinary foundations in physics, optics, chemistry, materials and energetics. They cover a set of applications that mainly fall within engineering for energy, electronics, biology, decontamination, metrology, the flow modification and aviation safety.
The research is of a fundamental nature and is applied in a spirit of ‘understanding to design’ in order to rise to societal challenges. While the stock of instruments is rich, the research also rests on modelling and digital simulation, which are becoming increasingly important.
The GREMI’s research is conducted by 2 teams. One team is involved in Cosmétosciences
Plasmas team for the environment, the living and safety (PEVS)
- Plasma-living environment interaction (microbiological safety)
– Sterilisation and decontamination ;
– Bioengineering: treatment/prevention of bacteria and biocorrosion, plasma medicine (anti-tumour effect), cosmetics;
– plasma/plant interaction (agro-food).
- Thermal plasma processes (safety of property and people)
– Pulsed arcs (lightning, arcs from faults, arcs from power cuts, arc tracking);
– Electrode phenomena;
– Laser induced plasmas (LIBS, fuel lighting).
- Treatment and enhancement of effluents (environmental safety)
– Decontamination and cleaning of gases (treatment of exhaust gases), liquids (residues of medicinal products) and surfaces;
– enhancement of gases (biomass products) and liquids (activated water for agriculture or to prevent biofouling);
– Plasma ignition, aids combustion, controls flow.
