Institute of Combustion, Aerothermics, Reactivity and Environment
TheInstitute of Combustion, Aerothermics, Reactivity and Environment – ICARE, was created on 1 January 2007 through the merger of the Laboratory of Combustion and Reactive Systems and the Laboratory of Aerothermics. ICARE is located on the CNRS campus at La Source. ICARE’s two areas of intervention are ‘Energy & Environment’ and ‘Propulsion & Space’, and theses are divided into 3 thematic groups: ‘Combustion and Reactive Systems’, ‘Atmosphere and Environment’ and “Space Propulsion and High Speed Flows’.
Cosmétosciences research topic:
Naturalness and eco-friendly processes
ICARE research is conducted by 3 teams. One team is involved in Cosmétosciences
Combustion and Reactive Systems team
The activities of this thematic group concern chemical kinetics and fluid dynamics phenomena in several chemical conversion systems, such as combustion, gasification and thermal degradation. For sustainable, clean, efficient and safe energy.
More efficient and safer combustion:
Energy efficiency (fundamental studies: phenomenological understanding),
Safety related to Explosions.
Cleaner combustion:
Reduction of gaseous pollutants,
Reduction of particulate pollutants: Soot.
New fuels:
Biomass enhancement,
New fuels including oxygenated biofuels,
New energy vectors.
